MNEMIC Guitarist Checks In From The Road

MNEMIC guitarist Mircea Gabriel Eftemie has issued the following update:

"We are really sorry for not keeping you up to date with the progress of our North American tour, but here we finally are, still alive and in the hot swamps of Florida at Disney World. (We will definitely kick the shit out of Mickey Mouse, with some heavy and Danish fuckin metal, if he shows up.)

"If we back up a little, the tour started at Jaxx (VA),which is a perfect place to start a tour. The crowd is always insane and hungry for metal and we always have a really good time there (drinkin 101!). It was also good seeing our Swedish friends in SOILWORK, 'cause its been way too long, and it's definitely great being out on the road with them again. We've also made new and great friends in DARKEST HOUR and THREAT SIGNAL, which are ass-kicking bands you definitely have to check out!

"From Jaxx, its been nothing but a trip. Canada has been more than amazing, especially the French part, where [new MNEMIC vocalist] Guillaume [Bideau; formerly of the French band SCARVE] started a riot on stage, speaking French to the crowd (don't ask me what he said, 'cause I really don't have a clue — but it was all good fun).

"From the Canadian East Coast all the way back to the American West Coast, we destroyed The Pound in San Francisco. We had a great time playing and partying there — hooked up with our buddy Pat from WATCH THEM DIE, who's been helping the band for a long time (mentally). At the end of the night we got Steve DiGiorgio super-drunk, who all of the sudden started speaking Norwegian to us!! Great and fun times!

"Thanks to Pat and Steve for making this a memorable day. We would also like to thank the promoter there, for having us play for the third time and would like to wish him all the best for the future. That was the last gig for The Pound since it's closing. Also a big shout-out to our buddy KENNY!!!! We hope to see you as well in the future bro!

As previously reported, MNEMIC has set "Passenger" as the title of its upcoming third studio album, which is scheduled for release in Europe on February 2 and in North America on February 6 via Nuclear Blast Records.

In regards to the potent lyrical content, MNEMIC guitarist Mircea Gabriel Eftemie states: "It's thematically built around the meaning of existence, or in other words, the philosophy of Existentialism. There are several philosophical positions — one of them being the value and meaning of the world around the individual, and the other is that Existentialism is often associated with anxiety, dread, awareness of death, and freedom.

"We chose this subject and theme mainly because it's so vast, and second, because we have always been big fans of Stanley Kubrick's '2001: A Space Odyssey' movie. We wanted to do something like that, just with music and lyrics."
